Sandbox is an incubation centre for the projects, so, your work is your certificate. There are no academic credits awarded for the projects, but students in the past have gone on to do projects under faculty members after learning from their experience in the Sandbox.
The Sandbox team calls for projects at the start of every semester. Students are expected to explain their idea. Shortlisted students are then called for a Faculty Interview. Ideas which seem feasible and require mostly the facilities available in Sandbox are then selected.
No, it is not related to any of the technical clubs. It is managed by a Student Committee under the guidance of a team of faculty members. It is an independent body.
Projects are funded in the form of facilities available in the Sandbox. They are not given any monetary funding as of now.
The fingerprint access is restricted to team members of project and the Student Committee. Therefore, to use the facilities you need prior permission from the Student Committee.
Students have access to the Sandbox 24*7. There are no fixed working hours. Project teams coordinate and decide their schedules. Providing flexibility to students is one of the main aims of the Sandbox.
A project that has been accepted in the Sandbox by the Committee is called a Sandbox project. It is different from other on-campus projects because it has access to very high-quality facilities inside of the Sandbox.
